How to Use ASPiano

A completely free interactive piano studio — no download, no sign-up. Everything you need to know about the app's features is below.

✓ Free✓ No Sign-up✓ MIDI Support✓ Turkish & English
🎹

Free Play

The "Free Play" tab is active the moment you open the app. Play any note on your MIDI keyboard or computer keyboard and a colourful waterfall animation flows down the screen — each note's colour reflects its octave and pitch.

Adjust the waterfall speed with the slider, enable the metronome for rhythm practice, and switch between Piano, Lo-Fi, Electric Piano, or Organ sounds using the sound selector.

🎓

Practice Curriculum

The "Practice" tab offers a structured piano curriculum with 16 units and 68 lessons. Topics range from correct posture and hand position through to pentonic scales, chords, and two-hand coordination.

Each lesson consists of several steps: info cards explain the concept, then the app waits for you to play the correct note, chord, or sequence. You earn score and XP as you go; mistakes give immediate feedback. Stars are awarded when you complete a lesson.

In Child mode, lessons use simpler, friendlier language suited for ages 5–12.

🎵

Song Mode

The "Song" tab lets you play real pieces with falling-note guidance. Songs are grouped into Easy, Medium, and Hard; higher difficulty tiers unlock after you complete enough songs in the tier below.

Every note to play is highlighted on the on-screen keyboard; wrong notes turn red. Finish a song and earn 1–3 stars based on accuracy.

📓

Defter (Notation Recorder)

The "Defter" tab records everything you play in real time and renders it as standard music notation. Timing and duration are measured precisely; the result is displayed on a five-line staff.

Browse, replay, or delete your recordings at any time. It's a great tool for archiving your own compositions or practice sessions.

🎼

Sheet Music View

The "Sheet" tab displays standard music notation in real time as you play — in free-play or song mode. Follow note heads, time signatures, and octave positions live on the staff.

🎛️

MIDI Keyboard Setup

Connect any USB or Bluetooth MIDI keyboard directly in Chrome or Edge. Click the "Connect Piano" button in the top-right corner — the browser will ask for MIDI permission once.

Once connected, keyboard mode turns off automatically. Unplug the MIDI device and keyboard mode turns back on automatically. Key count (25, 49, 61, 76, 88) is detected automatically and the on-screen keyboard adjusts to match.

For Bluetooth MIDI on macOS: open Applications → Utilities → Audio MIDI Setup → click "+" → "Connect Bluetooth MIDI Device", pair your device, then press "Connect Piano" in ASPiano.

⌨️

Computer Keyboard Mode

No MIDI device? No problem. In keyboard mode the home row (A S D F G H J K L …) maps to white keys and the top row (W E T Y U O P …) maps to black keys. Press Z or X to shift the octave down or up.

Toggle keyboard mode and choose the starting octave from the Settings panel.

📊

Stats & Achievements

Click the stats icon in the top-left to see your total XP, completed lessons and songs, daily streak, and earned badges. Badges are awarded automatically for milestones such as your first MIDI connection, consecutive correct notes, or finishing all units.

🌐

Language Selection

Switch between Turkish and English using the language button in the top-right. Your choice is saved in the browser and persists across sessions. Lesson content, song titles, and the full interface change to the selected language.
